Mona K. Sutphen is a Managing Director at UBS covering geopolitical and policy risk. She is a member of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board and an adjunct Professor at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.

Mona was White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy for President Obama from 2009-2011. Previously, she was Managing Director at Stonebridge International, a global strategy consulting firm advising multinationals. She was a U.S. Foreign Service Officer (1991-2000), and served at the National Security Council, the United Nations, the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo, the State Department, and U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.

She is co-author of The Next American Century: How the U.S. Can Thrive as Other Powers Rise, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She serves on the boards of Drilling Info Holdings LLC, the UBS pension plan, and Human Rights First.
