What is your mission?
A Young Mother's D.R.E.A.M is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to:
- Assist young/teen moms, 16-23yrs old in completing their education through a one-on-one mentorship program.
- Motivate them to become more accomplished individuals.
- Instill determination, resilience and excellence as core characteristics for these mothers.
- Work together to decrease teen pregnancies by promoting healthy choices, goal setting and education.
What makes your organization so unique in the non-profit space?
Many organizations for young mothers are geared toward helping them with social services and other types of support. There didn't seem to be any available support regarding completing their education or pursuing their professional dreams. We provide one on one mentoring with a mentor who was a teen mom and went on to achieve her education and professional goals.
What is your organization up to at the moment & how can CUP Members be involved?
On Friday, March 8th, which is International Women's Day, A Young Mother' D.R.E.A.M. educated moms on the 529 College Savings Plan. The event was facilitated by Patricia Roberts of Alliance Bernstein and held at the Robin Hood Foundation in NYC. Also on Sunday March 17th, A Young Mother's D.R.E.A.M hosted our 3rd Annual CupCakeWars Fundraiser at Taj in NYC.
