Bryan Barreras is Director and Counsel in the Legal Department of the New York Branch of Société Générale, primarily covering the bank’s hedge fund financing business. Bryan joined Société Générale in 2008, and from 2001 to 2008 held similar positions at other financial institutions in New York. He was previously an Associate at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore from 1997 to 2001, where he concentrated on capital markets and mergers and aquisitions. During his time at Cravath, Bryan was also seconded to the law firm of Hengeler Mueller Weitzel Wirtz in Frankfurt, Germany, where he advised on cross-border securities and derivatives transactions.
Bryan earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Houston. During his time in Houston Bryan worked for five years as a mechanical engineer for a petrochemical manufacturing and oil refining company. Bryan received his JD from New York University School of Law in 1997 and was an Executive Editor on the New York University Law Review.
