Mr. Tavarez is a Managing Director, Head of Emerging Markets Financial Institutions Sales, Americas Region at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch. Mr. Tavarez manages a team of professionals across the US and Latin America responsible for marketing global emerging markets fixed income products to the firms largest institutional clients.
Mr. Tavarez has held a number of key positions during his 16 year career. From 1997-1999, Mr. Tavarez was the co-head of Merrill Lynch’s fixed income sales and distribution business in Sao Paulo, Brazil where he was responsible for building the firm’s Institutional sales business. From 1998-2000, Mr. Tavarez worked as a corporate bond trader where he was responsible for both secondary market making and proprietary risk taking in the Media, Telecommunications and Financial sectors in Latin America.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Tavarez held positions as a Management Consultant for both Hewitt Associates and KPMG Peat Marwick in New York and Connecticut.
Mr. Tavarez holds a BA in Marketing and Strategic Management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Undergraduate School of Business and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
