What is your occupation and how did you come to work in this field?
I am the Founder and CEO of Mirror Digital, a technology driven media and advertising company. We help top brands connect with multicultural consumers using innovative digital advertising platforms. I worked with leading companies in the media industry in functions ranging from operations to strategy to finance for over 15 years. During that time, I uncovered this passion for digital media and content creation for multicultural audiences. Founding my own company, Mirror Digital was the outcome.
What is the biggest challenge of your work?
The innovation economy changes constantly. The challenge comes in staying ahead of those changes; always learning, experimenting and evolving to faithfully deliver the best product to our clients. Running a technology driven company like Mirror Digital puts us right in the middle of this constant change - and all the action.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement is becoming an entrepreneur. Being able to launch a company that I believe matters and can positively impact my community is an incredible privilege. Also, being able to work with and develop partnerships with digital content creators from diverse backgrounds is a pleasure and also quite a bit of fun along the way.
What leaders, thinkers or doers do you admire most?
I am a big admirer of Magic Johnson because he never places limits on what he believes can be accomplished – for himself or for others. Both as a professional athlete and as a leading business man, his winning approach stands out. He constantly pushes to new levels of achievement for himself and for our community.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years, I plan to be working with young people, helping them to start their own businesses. Entrepreneurship is a key component of wealth and job creation for our economy and I hope to be in the middle of that change.
What would be your advice to young people who want their careers and lives to have an impact?
Find something you truly love and become world class at whatever it is. Regardless of the industry or field, when you are world class at what you do, you will have an impact.
Why have you personally invested in CUP in Los Angeles and why have you and your fellow founders brought CUP to Los Angeles – what is the need and what is the opportunity?
CUP has been a transformational organization for me. CUP has provided access to professional resources, helping me further develop my network and continue to strive to reach my full potential as an individual and as a contributing member of our society. I think there is tremendous opportunity to similarly harness CUP’s roadmap for collective action and empowerment to energize the diverse populations here in Los Angeles. I believe we can affect real change around economic growth and opportunity in this city as we have in New York and elsewhere.
